A recent cantankerous mood for no especial reason saw me look for an antidote and find one in creating several new postcard collages. And of things found, I also discovered in the treasure house of words an abundance of words for my ill temper. Not for me Violeta Parra’s leaky this-is-the-end-of-all-things tent*. We are yet to descend the mountain; it’s all still an upward climb, isn’t it?
"We must always work, and a self-respecting artist must not fold his hands on the pretext that he is not in the mood. If we wait for the mood, without endeavouring to meet it half-way, we easily become indolent and apathetic. We must be patient, and believe that inspiration will come to those who can master their disinclination."
(Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in a letter to his benefactress, Nadezhda von Meck, dated 17th of March, 1878, and found in the 1905 volume of The Life & Letters of Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky (in the public domain))

* At MIFF 2012, Violeta Went to Heaven (2011), a film directed by Andrés Wood about the life and work of singer and folklorist Violeta Parra, depicts the end of her career in a lonely, leaky tent, and it has since come to be Louise and my own personal reference to the inevitable end of ideas that awaits us all.
