{Kitten Lenni has plans to be as large as a Jaguar. (The Panthera onca is the largest South American cat with a deep chest and strong limbs.)}
{Bizet and Ravel. Balanchine and Millepied. Christian Lacroix tutus and Daniel Buren stripes. Le Palais de Cristal and Daphnis et Chloé. We emerge from the cinema and realise that at this rate we are not MIFF 2014 ready. (Image credit: Scene from Benjamin Millepied's Daphnis et Chloé, Opéra National de Paris, captured live in Paris on the 3rd of June)}
{In a winter citrus stupor. (A brilliant mandarin crop, @pasadenamansions. Here's to next year's oranges following suit. {A three-steps-backwards kind of day.}
{Giant Kitten Lenni pretends he is in a scene from The Goodies.}
{There have always been Siamese cats in the family. (Photo of my Mum taken sometime before I was born)}
{Senior Pets Screen Cleaner. (A quick Percy capture from Monday morning's errands dash.)}
{From tiny cyclists to mini footballers, Louise's 00 and 000 brushes are getting a solid workout.}
{There have always been Siamese cats in the family. (Part II, December 1976)}
{Great swishing cat tails! (New postcard collages on the lounge room drawing board prove once and for all, I am a cat.)}
{There have always been Siamese cats in the family. (Part III, November 1975)}
{A Leopard (Panthera pardus) in Calais. A closer look at something new that Louise and I have been working on.}
{From this bed, with the wings of a bird, I flew to the sea as I slept last night. (Until the 1st of August, we're having a HUGE SALE on EVERY LITTLE THING in our online store. Simply use the discount code JOLLYJULY to receive 30%-off your entire order.)}
{Still in Calais, with a Leopard Cat (Felis bengalenis) and a Jaguar (Panthera onca).}
{Choice Confectionary, Winter Drinks, Hot Malted Milk, Beefine, Benton's and Davidson's Cakes & Pastry, Lending Library, Tobacco & Cigarettes, Cigars, etc.}
With a tame fifty-five MIFF 2014 films booked (let the disintegration begin!), things here are in a mad scramble. I am dotting my t's and crossing my i's. I am clearing the decks in readiness for my longed for and greatly needed annual holiday. And I'll be sharing the films I see here, my vision and sanity permitting.
See you in the dark.
+ Reads the news. (Grey mouse lemur, Microcebus murinus)
+ 'Excuse me, Mr Whiskers, are you ready for your extreme close-up?' (Australian Museum)
+ Adriaen Coenen’s Visboek (Fish Book) from 1580 is an epic tome on all things fish and fish-related (The Public Domanin Review)
+ Benjamin Millepied adapts Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé
+ And Zarafa Kept Walking, our four-colour lithographic offset print (on Fabriano Artistico 300gsm traditional white hot-press paper) from 2013, features Zarafa, the first giraffe to be seen in France (in the year 1826), and is available as part of our JOLLYJULY sale. The beautiful Zarafa inspired tall hairstyles à la girafe, and Honoré de Balzac to write a story about her. An exotic gift as political ploy from Muhammad Ali of Egypt to King Charles X, she walked from Marseilles to Paris to the delight of many onlookers, carrying with her perhaps a few feathered friends.
+ Thank-you for your recent orders placed through our online store. It has been wonderful, and not to mention terrific practice for Lenni who is learning not to nibble paper.
