{In Louise's hands, my Mum's current journal of daily drawings.}
There is a dog that every Saturday without exception has his portrait drawn for posterity and to the delight of his inner circle, his human fan club. Yes, each Saturday after her last yoga class has rolled up for the week, my Mum, Pasadena Mansions, draws Percy’s portrait. In the pages of her Moleskine: Percy at the local bakery, looking one part hopeful to one part focused expectancy in the direction of my Dad’s vanilla slice; Percy at the seaside, unsure of the water lapping about the four paws; Percy on the front verandah, scampering, and considering cocking one of the back legs; Percy sandwiched in the bike basket, (piping in parenthesis ‘Faster, my minions!’). Percy, in short, doing*. And the business of Doing is something this old dog has made haired-self master of. Much Doing followed by the inevitable Conk Out. Doing and Conking are the hand to the glove, the Yin to the Yang, the perfect partnership (you’d be wise to take note).
You can follow Percy’s growing portraits that feature as part of my Mum’s ambitious daily drawing project on her instagram account, pasadenamansions.
* I have written here 'doing' though perhaps 'posing' is the word I seek. Either way, handsome be the pup.
