{Closer.}
As of yesterday, Saturday the 4th of February, our show By This Unwinking Night, is open. This is somewhat hard to believe. We’ve been so long getting it ready that to sit back and find it is done, why, it’s hard to switch into new gear. Working towards this exhibition has been little short of wonderful. It has been wonderful to be focused upon one big body of work. It has been wonderful to see a wall of 443 postcard collages ranging in year from 2006 through to 2012 hang in neat grid some 12 metres in length and now on a wall. It is hard now to fathom how such a grid was planned out on two drawing boards side by side in the lounge room. Yes, seeing it all done, it can be seen why we left a New Year’s Eve party well before midnight, and spent our days and nights working. You cannot often shut yourself away and just work: it remains a privilege.
So, friends, today I will take you back to Thursday the 2nd of February when we were still with small hammer in hand and a laser level tickled our necks.

Currently showing at
Latrobe Regional Gallery
138 Commercial Road, Morwell (Victoria)
(The gallery is right next to the train station, travellers among you. It is also open everyday of the week.)
+ The middle of an Unwinking Night, Louise's Sunday post features a glimpse at her beautiful birds in flight. Near to my head there swoops a Common cuckoo, a Pink-footed shearwater and a Red-tailed Minla. Duck!
