A little more tone in the forewing and we're done. One Sooty Albatross ready to be 'cut' from the negative space.
Omar, the old man, surprises all by greeting us at the door. He trots outdoors for sniffs and sun. Warming his old bones. (Thank-you so very much for your kind words and sympathy expressed on twitter and instagram about our budgie, Bertie, and Omar's poor health.)
In Your Dreams invitations with our Zarafa print arrive in today's post. (The opening is Thursday the 8th of May, at 6pm, and you are all invited.)
Earlier this week, the handsome Kleins Perfumery shop cat, T.C., unbeknownst to Percy, has him in his sights.
A scene from Agatha Christie's recently filmed Elephants Can Remember. (G harvests bodies for the 2nd edition of A Catalogue of Bodies in the late afternoon)
As I cut out my recently finished Sooty Albatross (Phoebetria fusca) and set it free from the background so that it can soar (as part of Gracia and my planned installation of work as part of In Your Dreams), things are getting to the giddy and close stage. Gracia is polishing her text element to our installation, and it features a dear reference to our beloved Siamese cat, Omar. She is shifting commas and switching words, getting it just so. This text element will also form a new zine. Alongside the second edition of her Poirot zine, A Catalogue of Bodies, the month of May brings with it two new zines as well. I've much to glue and stitch!
But as the bulk of work is now completed, the very real task of setting up begins. We have it all mapped out, but our nerves sometimes say otherwise. Prints need to be editioned and tabs made for works to hang. To quieten the butterflies, the invites featuring our collaborative Zarafa collage on the front arrived in the post today, and Omar and I took the time to sit on the veranda and inspect them. Yes, it is all very close.
