Four Rainbow Lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus) who visited my garden one summer’s day is a new zine of mine that features pencil and watercolour drawings of four different Rainbow Lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus) who took refuge in the leafy canopy of my back-garden during a summer heat-wave. They have since become regular visitors, though they've yet to officially approve their portraits. One pair seems more plucky, and will stay in the feeder when I go out into the garden, under the pretext of feeding Misha or hanging washing, but really I am just wanting to get a closer look at their splendid feathers, whilst the other pair will fall back into the olive tree canopy and watch me from a safer distance.
One of four zines made especially for the recent Sticky Institute Zine Fair held at the Melbourne Town Hall, it is one of an ongoing folded series of mine. One A4 sheet can be folded and spliced to make a small, pocket-sized book sans stitching. It is safe to assume that I will continue with this folded series, and that birds will feature in the next one. Perhaps the Great Auk with its ivory bill that I am drawing for In Your Dreams will feature. Perhaps not. You'll have to wait and see.
This zine is available, here, through our online store for a Lorikeets song. 38.1500° S, 144.3500° E and Lunch, from the same series too.
