Looking down at the floor

On the floor of Imp, recent works are packed away. Many are to go to new homes and some are to stay with me. I thought you'd care for one more peek at these particular works and those beautiful wooden floorboards.

There is something charming about wooden floorboards and I have long wished my floors at home were not carpeted but exposed like these. Having seen what lies underneath the carpet, I know they are not nearly as beautiful as the timber floors above the Greville St Bookstore.

Fictions

As yet I've not had a chance to motor down to check out this exhibition that Gracia and I are in. I hope to in the next week or two. Before it draws to a close, at any rate. If you are in that neck of the woods then feel free to swing by.

Hope your Friday is treating you well. It is yet another lovely day here and I plan to spend it catching up on some work and taking my parents' dog for yet another walk.

A mid morning hello

On a mid morning break and before I take my parents’ dog Wilbur for a walk, I thought I’d share a few more Impish photos and details with you. We de-install early next week and I shall be sorry to do so. I have really enjoyed having the work on those white walls for most of September.

Soon, G & I will have to find a place in the house for the large cabinet recently acquired. It is such a beauty so I doubt this will be a chore.

Prints aplenty

Spring is the perfect season for my temperament; I love it second only to Autumn. The weather is neither too hot nor too cold. In this climate I find myself inspired to tackle piles of work and take on new projects. Gardening is a pleasure not a chore, and I could almost say the same about organising my tax receipts. Nothing seems too daunting.

As a result of all this spring energy, Gracia and I have uploaded six new lithographic offset prints to our store.

All are four colour lithographic offset prints on Lana Aquarelle satin 300gsm paper.
They are editions of 20.

So step this way to check them out…

A fine balancing act went unnoticed.

Keeping a watchful eye both night and day until you return.
 
Standing nearer to the forest we were able to recall what it was like to be among the living once more.

Something mighty peculiar was afoot but I was hard-pressed to say for certain what it was.

Safe and secure.

The best cover still proved Egyptian artefacts and treasure from Troy.

Elephants and artists' books

A few days ago now, I skipped over to Gracia’s blog to wish her a happy happy birthday and to share with you a very merry photo of her meeting Namoi at the Melbourne Zoo.

I totally love the elephants there and visit them often (thanks to a zoo membership that enables frequent visits). Of course, I’d prefer to see them roaming in the wild, but so long as captive breeding programs are necessary (the Asian Elephant being an endangered species) then I hope all those beautiful creatures involved are as well looked after as Namoi and her friends at the Melbourne Zoo.



It was such a joy to feed her a carrot, pat her trunk and tell her how beautiful she was. I couldn’t resit sharing a few more snaps from the chance encounter.

I thought I’d also share a few more photos of our collaborative work created for But for the moon nobody could see us. Specifically, five artists books entitled Objects gathered with care from recent reads (I-V) which feature throughout the show in three separate cabinets. Each is an edition of twelve and features an individual watercolour on the front and back covers.

Part of a tour

 

It's the third day of spring here in Melbourne town. The sun is shinning the birds are singing, especially Claude and Agatha who have just had their home cleaned out and a little shower. I've just discovered that along with their daily bird bath they love, love, love to jump under the spray of the hose. I love my feathered friends, and there is something about chatting to budgies that is incredibly relaxing. Am I becoming a crazy bird person? Quite possibly, yes, I am.

On another note, Gracia and I have another batch of photos of our exhibition to share with you. I'm showing parts of the first gallery and Gracia is showing parts of the second gallery. There's still the hallway and our collaborative drawings to go. Heavens! No doubt they will appear later in the week.

Oh, and if by chance in the next six weeks you are near to Olinda then feel very free to drop in and see Thelma's window at MINE - Kids in Olinda. I guarantee it will make you smile.

Luckily it’s an edition of 50 so that means as well as the copies for sale at Imp, Gracia and I can also have a few copies available on our store for all our friends who can't see the exhibition in person.
