This one is for my Dad. It's an original 1957 Fiat 500, his dream machine and requested birthday prezzie. I couldn't get him the real deal so I drew one instead. I also found this cool site (EuropaAsia Da Torino a Pechino in Fiat 500) in my quest to "find the perfect fiat"... my lack of linguistic skills hampered my reading though the photographs were entertaining.

A not so little (20cm X 33cm X 14cm) owl has just made his way onto our hammer & daisy store. His name is Lenny and I believe him to be the King of All Owls... he'd also quite happily double as a pillow or trusty headrest.

The Vincent Black Lightning was first released in the same year as the Shadow. Known as the worlds fastest standard motorcycle for over twenty years, it was custom made, with a mere 31 ever built.

Today and tomorrow are all about the Vincent! Thank-you to S for suggesting that I really ought to check out these bikes... and I suspect, thanks also to Mr T for his biker knowledge?
I'll start with the Black Shadow, which was first built in 1948 and had a top speed of 125mph but would also quite happily cruise along on 100mph. As the delicious name suggests it was all black, right down to the engine and gearbox.

The trees are alive with the sound of pecking.
Please meet Mr Red-Bellied Woodpecker from North America, Mr Yellow-Fronted Woodpecker from Paraguay, Mr Great Spotted Woodpecker from N.E. India and last but not least - Mr Pileated Woodpecker from Canada.

- It featured in the 1950's film that started the biker-flick genre.
- It's a 650cc vertical twin, introduced in 1950.
- A famous American actor rode his own one of these in his staring role as the character Johnny.
- In 1953, a guy named Tommy Smith wore a bathing suit and tennis shoes for a record run aboard one of these bikes when he got into a wobble and bailed off at 130 mph, suffering extreme skin injuries that required several skin grafts and took over 2 years to heal.
- It's British.

If I were a Sun Parakeet my 5 senses would be...
The sight of all that S.E.Venezuela, the Guianas and N.E.Brazil have to offer, particularly the open forests and tropical grasslands with scattered trees and palm groves.
The sound of the shrill shrieks of my fellow flock members.
The taste of large fruits, especially figs, but also berries, nuts, seeds and tree blossoms.
The feel of the thin twigs at the end of tree branches.
The smell of home sweet home, or rather nest sweet nest which is a hole inside the trunk of a palm tree.

The actual tank on this bike was classic racing red... but I'm more of a green/turquoise kind of girl. So I've made my own modifications.
