{The light and scent the candles produce as they burn intrigues Olive.}
Lights out, candle glow, let’s keep them off, shall we? In flickering light the room ordinary took on majestic proportions as we played Scrabble, nibbled on watermelon pieces and slices of nectarine, and participated in Earth Hour. The dark quiet marking the perfect transition from MRB’s second birthday party, all blue icing and lollies atop a galleon engineered from cake mix. The brightness of the day and all its raucous fun, and the dull whine of the Grand Prix motors, gave way to a cosy evening in. We should do more often without all that electric.
