Happiness on the green grass.

Today I am enjoying having the house decorated for Christmas with wreaths, lights and festive plumage and trimmings. The tree is up and two presents are already wrapped and underneath, the chocolate advent calendar is proving a delicious early morning enjoyment and I am delighting in making presents (or buying handmade) rather than tackling the big store frenzy.

I am also enjoying, of late, the arrival of snail mail most splendid. Generous postcard love from Tommy (notes by naïve) and Shona (lala dex press) has made me smile ear to ear a big toothy grin.

Thank you both so very much. You have each shared and selected beautifully apt postcards and this weekend I am looking forward to using them for collage. I have a series in mind already, a Sometimes series of postcard collages to be made only on postcards received from others. Roll on Saturday, I have my scissors and a pot of fresh acid-free glue at the ready.

The windows are flung open high and La Guacamaya (by los lobos) is playing.

Remember under the light of the silvery moon this eve to, as the saying goes, shoot for the moon for if you miss you will still be among the stars.

I love, love, love the idea of your new series. It's beautiful.

These cards are so lovely and suited to you. Enjoy your creative endeavours..and the house decorating sounds like a lot of fun :) xxx

looks like such a lovely day!

I've always wondered what Christmas would be like in the Southern Hemisphere as I've never experienced Christmas in Summer before. I always associate Christmas with snow, even though I've had very few snowy Christmases.

I love the posts about the zines. I keep coming back here in the hope that I will get inspired to break out of blogland and onto real paper in the form of a zine.

Mmmm...green grass and sun. I need that little visual lift. We have a foot of snow on the ground and subzero temps - I feel like the Michelin Man when I walk the dog in the morning (2 layers of pants, 2 shirts, a hoody, a parka, a fleece balaclava, mitten-gloves and heavy winter boots). Much as I love snow for Christmas, those subzero temps have got to go!

Enjoy a little of that sunshine for me!

First of all, can I say how much I love your outfit and the rabbit brooch (SO adorable)! Love wonderful mail treasures, can't wait to see what you do with the goodies. Have a wonderful weekend!

yay for postcards! you look so radiant and happy in the sunshine and green grass.

looking forward to your collages.

Love the idea of the new series too and can't wait to see what you make out of them! I received your zines and will be poring over them this weekend. It's been horribly rainy in London so I'm very envious that you can sit on the grass.

I'm so glad they are out of a box and into your hands, on the green grass. I look forward to seeing their next incarnation.

hello cute you in the grass!!!

xoxo

What a large mountain of delicious postcards.... and a very cute rabbit brooch also.... may I enquire? Looking forward to seeing the final outcome of Have wheels will travel. xx

Is this you in the picture? You look so stylish; I love your shirt. And your postcards are so pretty.

you are so lovely! and I feel wretched that I have yet to get postcards in the mail to you when it has been percolatiing for so long and I have picked some up at different times only to put them down and say, no, no not good enough -- somehow imagining I will find the perfect ones-- when damn my crazy head, I need to just pop some in the mail to you already.

But seriously, you are so lovely!

I imagine you will put these to good use - what a great collection! I like the photograph of you ... ah, summertime and sitting on the grass. Enjoy!!

A late reply... oh, dear!

Me too, LJ. I'm super keen to make a start.

Yes, I love these postcards sent, too. Such a beautiful selection... I can't wait to use them and soon. Real soon, Julie.

A lovely day it was, Wendy, though I perhaps became too caught up in its hazy laziness that I, and Louise, also, forgot all about a dinner party at a friend's place. We both thought it was for the Saturday rather than the Friday... missing it highlighted my need to become a little more organised. So sad to miss a Christmas gathering for no reason other than disorganisation!

Having never experienced a winter Christmas, The Ghostis, I know just what you mean... the opposite is hard to imagine. Christmas here is usually warm, and, for me, often experienced barefoot. Plenty of good food, good cheer and loved ones near. Please keep me posted on any zine you create... I'd be eager to see it.

"2 layers of pants, 2 shirts...", Tiffany, I have no idea, save for your words, how that feels! Were it not rainy and grey here today, I'd happily post a few more bright light filled photos just for you.

Thanks, Cruststation... I seem to be living in that striped top of late. As soon as it is dry, I wear it. It'll remain a firm favourite until the next fave replaces it.

I'm so keen to make a start on some new work, Eunice. It must be all the busyness of December. Whenever there are other things that need doing or sorting the temptation to sit down to collage or draw or read seems all the stronger. Thank you, too, for your kind words.

Thanks again, Tommy, and I hope those zines afford you a smile on a rainy drab day. I can't wait to share with you what I end up creating with these postcards.

Thank you, Shona, also. Such a brilliant handful of postcards, I couldn't pick a favourite even if I tried. I'm keen to share with you the end result. Thanks, once again.

Hello cute you, too, Lisa S.

Enjoy the Wheels zine, Brydie. Your photo in it looks just swell! And you are in very good company. As to the white bunny, he is made of wood and is from Elk Accessories (find them here: http://www.elkaccessories.com.au ). Needless to say, I wear him often.

Hi Melissa... that's me in the above photos, as taken by Louise in the early afternoon. On the long way home, stopping to admire the postcard haul of loveliness from Shona and Tommy.

Hi there Elizabeth... and you are too! The prospect of a little postcard snail mail from your good self has put quite the spring in my step. How very exciting, and how very kind of you.

I hope to, Kate... fingers crossed tightly. At the moment I have this charmingly handsome bundle of postcards dotted around the room... I am trying to see the perfect collage addition.

many hugs to all, g xo
