A series of little things from today.

Today I saw a woman dressed in a tight white top sitting at a café table outdoors, waiting for her friend in yellow to finish her conversation on her mobile and talk to her.

I listened to de Amsterdam Klezmer Band and the Galata Gypsy Band on the way to yoga, and Olavi Virta on the return journey (I have finally been able to track down a cd of Olavi Virta, the Finnish King of Tango and I couldn’t be happier... should you wish for a copy, I may be able to oblige).

I heard, pre class, Betty lamenting that her knee specialist sees her as just a knee. "I’m just a knee to him. That’s all I am!”

I picked up a gold buddha card, and thought it appropriate.

If you are virtuous and follow a proper life,
there will be no wanting in your life.
This is in accord with nature.

I went out without my mobile charged fully and listened to it beep and whine, alerting me to this fact.

I made biscuits with my Mum and LJ, and enjoyed tasting one moments after their removal from the oven as they cooled on the wire tray.

{New Thelma's stuffies. I may just have to claim that one with the black mask as my own.}

I marvelled at my Mum’s new stuffies with their tribal markings and, I suspect, a little bit of a voodoo influence. Hot pink lips, black diamond-shaped buttons covering exposed limbs, my Mum makes stuffies like no other. Several are even capable of being turned upside-down and making a new face. What initially appeared as striped legs now make for long striped ears. Ingenious, no?

I am hoping my garden produces such tasty treats as this even though I have not planted any hawthorn berries, rosehips and sloes.

I saw Omar curled up asleep in a ball with a little dark velvety paw curled over his eyes to shield out the light.

I have seen a green fluorescent monster in the early evening. A little polymer clay monster that glows in the dark by Caroline Gaedechens; it came with a recent etsy order of mine and I love him so. (Find her etsy store here, and drawings and a recent book, edda, here.)

{When the lights go out.}

I am enjoying “underneath the blue and the staples” here.

I am also enjoying seeing a penguin with heart, handmade by Fliss, over here.

Today I would have liked to go here, to this store in marktstraße, Hamburg. (I think I may need to re-read that buddha card one more time; I still want.)

I have seen many wonderful publications at Café Royal Zines and Underground Press (thanks, Smosch for the link), and it has made me want to get a wriggle on with my next zine with Shari & Louise, and to also announce another zine project on the boil. With fingers crossed ever tightly I hope to give you the details of the latter on Wednesday. It’s a zine all about transport and transport loves, and I would love for you all to be able to contribute and play along. This zine and the rebuilding of our online store from the ground up has lead me, once again it seems, to be rather absent in this much loved space.

I am hoping that come Wednesday I shall have an official zine invitation for you and that I shall also (toes crossed) be declaring our new store front O-P-E-N.

Best get a wriggle on with that.

Long time-No comment, I'm sorry Miss G.
But My, What a lovely little post with some lovely little links. carolyn's works are gorgeous, thank you for revealing her craftiness to me. The cafe royal will be a personal favourite for quite a while, and like your fine self has motivated me to once again begin some zines..... once this thesis is finished anyway! Gosh! Love to you and Miss L too.

I forgot to mention, I'm very interested in adopting one ofThelma's stuffies soon in the near future. Golly Gee your mum is clever! xx

I am marveling at your mum's stuffies as well - the one with the pink lips, oh! And the sweet sad eyes on the blue one.

Funny, when you speak (write) of them, your family reminds me so much of my own.

Store front!?? Yippee! Wow, congratulations! That is so wonderful:) I wish I could come and see it.

I like today's post of little things - the ghosts, description of Omar, your little observations, your Mum's stuffies...and looking forward to your zine announcement! Hope your garden turns out lots of goodies too.

i saw some family while in ny and my cousin who is very into travel and frequent flyer miles and other deals found an error on a travel site that allowed him to buy roundtrip tickets from ny to australia for $500! oy! why couldn't he buy me one too? then i could finally visit my dear friend l&g.

Oops ... I almost didn't leave a comment because I got distracted with the various links you mentioned. The chair demolition was fascinating as were the striped beets and assorted fruits and veggies.

Your mum's stuffies are wonderful. I also loved your glow-in-the-dark ghost. That was another fun link to follow.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your new zine! I'll be back!

Hey there Brydie,
Ah, you have been buried under a rock better known as “I have particular to do”, or in your case “I have a thesis to write and it just wont do itself”. Welcome back! So glad there was plenty awaiting you. Carolyn’s work is beautiful, isn’t it?
As to the stuffies, a couple will be available on our new store, some are up for adoption over on our etsy store, and others can be found, in person, at Craft Victoria and Arthur’s Circus. Alternatively, if you see one you like in the photos often posted just give either LJ or myself a holler and we can cook up a plan.

Hi there Briana,
Yes, that one with the hot pink lips is another favourite of mine. He reminds me of a stuffie version of a member of the Kiss Army; it must be the white face make up and all that black.
Oh, and I like the idea of the similarities between our families. I often wish I could reveal a little more on my blog, however I am wary of it being so frightfully public at times. I often feel as though I am penning a post either solely for myself or for you and other known readers and commenters.

Hi there Alyssa,
Our new virtual store front is coming along in leaps and bounds, and it looks like, at this rate at least, like it shall be Open for Business tomorrow. I have red and rather square eyes to attest to this.

Hi Tommy,
That glowing ghost is a beaut, isn’t it? And he or she has such a sweet face by day, too, with fine brushwork. I am hoping that my mini garden crop turns out fine produce to fling in a salad baguette over summer as well.

Hey there Risa,
Oh! If only. A $500 fare sounds unbelievably good. One day, one day… here’s hoping you can make it down to us, or we can wing our way closer to your patch of the earth. Wow - $500!?

Hi Kate,
Happy you found many things to distract a green thumb such as yourself whilst indoors. I am forever fascinated by Lottie’s chair tales, and other things found following link after link.

Praise and cheers of delight have been duly passed onto my Mum in regard to her fabulous stuffies. And, now I’d best press on if I’m to have a zine invitation to extend to you all,
g xo
