Forgotten post (so happy to have found you)

{So happy to have found you.}

How remiss of me. Wandering through file upon file on my computer, wading through scanned image upon scanned image, I came across a host of postcard collages I had yet to show you. They have been the archaeological find of the annual computer spring clean though not worth a pretty penny in comparison to an Egyptian mummified cat nor a Roman goblet either for that matter. Several postcards, as exhibited as part of A trapdoor in every room in the now moth-eaten month of May... found. So here at the tail end of September as the south pole of the earth begins to tilt towards the sun and the bluebells begin to burst forth, I give you six postcards, present and correct.

Truth be told, I found fourteen postcards in total, but I’ll save the remaining eight rather than bombard you with all those things found deep within my dusty archives. I hope you enjoy this slice of postcard love.

Must dash, for I’ve just won a double pass to see Joe Strummer - The Future Is Unwritten. I missed its screening at the recent film festival so I’m super keen to have not one but two tickets put aside under my name.

I have many things to share with you all shortly… cerulean blue ceramic rabbits and pale green bird bookends (who’ve already made their flickr debut), new collages with found papers from Lisa S and Paula, new projects on the boil (and one which I'll be enquiring if you want to take part in) and by the time I sit down to nut out another posting, many, many more things will have attached themselves like barnacles to a ships hull.

Enjoy what remains of your Wednesday...

You will definitely have to give us a review of the Strummer movie - I heard that it was very well done.

Can't wait to hear more about future projects!

I am so glad you found it. Your work always makes me have so many feelings... Feeling from the past, feelings of playfulness yet mystery...

Hello all,

So glad you enjoyed seeing these six almost forgotten about postcard collages of mine. It’s hard to keep up with which ones I have shared on my blog, which ones have gone to new homes and which ones have been stored away in a box and wrapped in tissue for another day. Personal archaeological finds are always a thrill no matter what is found. Long forgotten about post, letters, notes, drawings, polaroids… all these things can draw a smile to the face, sometimes they can even elicit an ear-to-ear grin. My spring cleaning of late has led me to find an overdue library book and Humphrey Bogart rental dvd, various catalogues and invitations, measurements scrawled on paper that would have been handy at the initial time of scrawling, but which now make little sense, and various other things. I’ve also found the unremarkable… bent paperclips, dried out felt tip pens, used envelopes and so on. Who knows what I shall unearth when I set to the bookbinding table now buried under the weight of many papery piles. Forgotten treasures, as you mentioned, Risa, are most welcome. And penguins, Andrea and Amisha, were surely made to wander St Charles Avenue.

I still have several new collages to share with you incorporating paper elements sent by post from Paula and Lisa S which I am super keen to share (I hope you like ‘em Paula and Lisa, too), and I am so excited at the mention of a package from you, bugheart. So thrilled!

As to the Joe Strummer flick, Lottie, Tiffany and Kate, it was brilliant. As a huge Clash and Strummer fan I knew I’d love it. If you can, you should definitely go and see it on the big screen ( http://www.joestrummerthemovie.com/ ) or snap it up on dvd (… it came out on dvd on the 17th of this month). Plenty of unseen footage, family photographs, audio recordings and drawings from notebooks animated, campfires, from The 101’ers to The Mescaleros, and plenty of the to be expected interviews… a real must see! Go see!

P.S. Those cerulean blue ceramic rabbits are on the way, Julie. They are currently housing spring blooms. Their heady fragrance tickles the nose. I hope to take a photo later on today to do both blooms and lapins justice.

oh how very wonderful. i'll try and type to you later today so we can catch up. xox
