Ready to set up once more? That’s great! Then lets make a start. Mind your way through the bookshop below… full of many tempting reads it requires stern will to walk past as you head out the back door and prepare to climb the stairs to the door marked Imp.
We have our box of tricks at the ready; a pair of white gloves, a tape measure, a ball of string, scissors, several blades, an eraser and a white box of adhesive tabs, plenty of small nails and a hammer with which to hammer them, the odd pencil, a felt-tip pen, and a journal too. Nope, I don’t think we’ve missed anything… so, shall we make a start? It’s going to be a long day so much coffee shall be needed. Much coffee to keep the little cogs in the brain well oiled and in full working order.
Enough chit chat, shall we commence, friends?
One day down, another to follow…
Do you fancy making a map for the catalogue? Or perhaps helping Louise with her 52 thaumatropes?
All this, and we've yet to reach the perspex plinths and the other small walls. I'll save those for another posting, together with a closer peek at all, save two, of Shari's beautiful postcards. The Tempio di Castore e Polluce now features a bank vole balanced up high and those black bears have come into good fortune... the rest you'll have to pop back for in a few days time. Or perhaps you have already been able to detect them in the photos above?
Thanks for all your assistance, dear chums. Now, please, put your feet up, a well deserved rest is very much in order for you all.
♥

Ooh, thank you Grache for letting me set up with you! Now, if only I had that time machine to enable me to see it in person...

Well done, Gracie! What a gigantic, mammoth effort!
Now I must depart & soothe my aching limbs... & fold the last of the catalogues. Then it's all done! All finished!

You two are so brilliant and talented! Everything looks very lovely and so much work. Wow! Here's to your show and opening.
Take care and thanks for the trapdoor peek.

What a tremendous effort, you two! I second Lottie's sentiments...If only OZ was as close as a flight to NY...

Is that one of shari's charms I see in your ear? it's beautiful! I was just going to ask if crouching like that to setup was painful, but I guess louise already answered that :( What a wonderful wall filled with eye-candy from edge-to-edge. It's been much fun setting up, congrats to you both!!

Phew, that was a lot of work! I think everyone who helps out should get a treat to go with that much deserved rest...how about an angel food cake drizzled with strawberry puree, fresh strawberries on top, served with a generous dollop of real whip cream? I'll gladly make enough for everyone!

So very impressed i am G&L.... And i will be there within days to catch your thermotrope wall, postcards, collages, prints (and catelogue ooh!) and hopefully choose a friend for my lonely elephant and her tears. The walls remind me of artistic cork boards of inspiration and reminders... i suppose they are definietely full of inspiration, and looking at them will remind me that there are ways to be a working artist!
Well done Miss Gracia!

Thanks Lottie, Risa, Julie, Alyssa, Wendy, Veronica TM, Jen, A Fanciful Twist, Sue Ramirez, Maditi, Amisha, Terramia, and Marieke too. LJ & I are quite overwhelmed at all your praise, kind words and merry singsong of congratulatory cheer. It has been so wonderful to wake up in the morning to discover an inbox of typepad comments from the likes of Amsterdam, Florida, British Columbia, New York, pockets of London and Germany too, and from night owls and early birds a little closer to home as well. Thank you all for your comments, and for providing LJ and myself with so much seemingly endless, utterly wonderful, heart felt encouragement. I am, as I mentioned earlier, overwhelmed.
And Briana too… thank you. I’d dearly love to help with the parlour hanging of work in your LA pad. How does next week sound? I still have my spirit level and packet of nails at the ready. These tools of the trade are just itching to be used.
If only it were, Karen. How grand would that be? I’ll catch up with you in New York this weekend… how does that sound? I’d more than happily miss a morning yoga class and a trip to the greengrocers for that. I just have to swing by LA first for a spot of decorating with Briana.
Crouching and squatting and balancing in tricky poses whilst arranging and configuring, Crust Station, was indeed a little awkward. My hamstrings and upper arms happily ached as we drove home in the dark.
Angel food cake… fresh strawberries too, you say, Tiff. Yes, that sounds just the thing! Thanks in advance.
See you soon, Em. If you lean in real close maybe the wolf will offer forth cunning and wise plans to you too? I’ll have a word in her ear and see if she’ll oblige. If not, there is always the handsome peacock on the right ear lobe. He loves to natter about preening, hygiene, and is fabulous with economic tips and future business plans.
Thanks again, Shari. Your golden charms are wonderful to wear on my ears, so much so that LJ is now considering getting her ears pierced. She has never had them pierced and is thrilled at the prospect of a noble owl or golden pig hanging from her ears. Next posting I promise to show you some of your postcards in their new guise… I hope you like ‘em. They were wonderful to work on, especially the giant ones. It’s always a thrill working on postcards selected by someone else, yours especially. So, thanks again, thanks again. As to coming across to your bookstore meets gallery – YES! Definitely, yes! When? Soon? Please.
A big shiny jewel, you say, Lisa. Hmm, yes, that wolf is mighty fond of all trinkets that glitter and shimmer so I think you may be in luck. I think you’ve offered him a deal he’ll find hard to refuse, my friend.
A friend for your lonely elephant, Brydie, yes, I think you may be in luck! There are plenty more polar bears, a whole aurora of them. Plenty of sea otters and whales, many, many seals, bears, badgers and birds as well. I hope you like it.
A good clean eraser, yes, that is an essential tool, Bugheart. Under those warm, bright halogen lights in the gallery, all number of small, mysterious marks become visible. That and a great many cat hairs too. Oh, dear.
Thank you, everyone. I am quite overcome… all your congratulatory cheer has been so wonderful to receive… I feel full. Such kind words – wow!
take care,
g
xoxo
