Turning the Tables on Alfred Court
Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison
Not Quite Sure
Thursday 1st of May – Wednesday 21st of May, 2014
Little Window of Opportunity
Port Jackson Press Print Gallery
84 Smith Street, Collingwood
Squeezed in the window of the Port Jackson Press Print Gallery, a leap of leopards. Pinned in place, a deceit of lapwings and a company of parrots. In loose grid formation, an ambush of tigers and a bundle of letters. Including twelve hand-coloured birds from the Southern Hemisphere (by Louise), a selection of Dear You imagined travels from the ongoing postcard series of collage and correspondence (by Gracia), and three new collaborative lithographic offset prints (And Zarafa Kept Walking, Turning the Tables of Alfred Court, and Whirling in the Glowing Dark). By day and by night, you can expect to see trained circus lions and polar bears taking the place of their masters and a giraffe providing a transportation alternative for a flight of chattering birds.
The prints, collages, and individual bird portraits from kakapos to red knots will be available from Port Jackson Press Print Gallery for the duration of the display, and the window can be viewed all day, all night, until our circus rolls out.
I am looking forward to installing our work in the window of the Port Jackson Press Print Gallery this week. In their brand new and beautiful space across the road and up a bit, I can't wait to hang our paper menagerie. As G posted recently, we've taken our measurements twice, and we've triple checked that all is signed and tabbed. Cardboard chocks have been made, and the spirit level is by the door. We're ready!
Charms of the Gloaming in 2012 was such a delight. Here's to doing it all again!
