This recent collage by Gracia and me features two animals who were brave enough to amble though the fireplace. This is where they ended up, the Diana monkey and other tailed friend. Perhaps. We'll let you decide.

On a similar note, this is where the Patas monkey ended up. In a collage within our artists' book, Sleeping during the day, 2010. At the beginning and end of each book, two unique state collages appear. Some feature monkeys, others bulls, various frogs, civets, and even an African linsang, and all ten in this edition are different.

Stay dry, friends. I'm off to go fold some more zines for tomorrow's zine fair at MUMA.

Webbed

The third of my recent little artists’ books/zines is this watery-blue one entitled Webbed.
 
It is an edition of 100. So that means I have added to the world 100 Domestic ducks, 100 Torrent ducks, 100 Baikal teals, 100 Red-breasted geese and 100 Common shelducks.
 
I hope they make their way in the world.

One day in June

It is a beautiful spring day outside and I am looking back at photos taken in June when it was winter. Percy and I are feeling the wind in our hair in Port Melbourne.

This is not the first time Percy has been to the beach. If he is lucky, we'll head there again soon.

Humble birds

What is the opposite of a bird that likes to display? A humble bird, I suppose. Something like a House sparrow, a Little pratincole with a forked tail (above), an Eurasian golden plover, a Streaky-breasted spiderhunter, and a Striated grasswren from Central Australia.

In addition, the very clever Hila Shachar has written a piece about Gracia and me which features in desktop magazine.

Hila has also suggested to Gracia and me a theme for a new zine, "why I adore the night", and has posted publicly this lovely idea of hers. “I rather like the idea of forming a small, momentary network of creativity, based on the theme of why we adore the night.” It is a theme Gracia and I am looking forward to exploring in the coming weeks.

Birds that like to display

Having recently seen and adored Graeme Murphy and The Australian Ballet's Romeo & Juliet, I thought it fitting to show you one of my recent zines, Birds that like to display. The birds in this zine sport their own Akira costumes provided by Mother Nature. They display and glitter and fly to the moon for each other in courtship, just like a pas de deux on the stage worthy of Romeo and Juliet.

Behind every photo shoot

Behind every amateur photo shoot, there is often a Percy at Gracia and my feet. He isn't very helpful, but he's ever so adorable. He's patient for the main, and very accepting of compliments he receives from the people that pass by.

Above you can see the 2010 and 2011 copies of Dear Dad. What you can't see is Percy. Another thing you can't see in the top photo, dear reader, is how the 1,000 poetry books were bound. Here is how that looked.

The Wonderful Printed Things Fair

Thank-you Rona for inviting Gracia and me to be a part of The Wonderful Printed Things Fair. The venue was superb, the coffee delicious, the company swell, and the crowd a delight.

Momentarily visible (above) and Not so very different upon reflection (below) are two collages by Gracia and me created especially for The Big Issue's annual Fiction Edition Special for 2011.

Head to your nearest vendor to pick up a copy. Our polar bear features on the contents page whilst our spotted cat accompanies an extract from Charlotte Wood's novel Animal People.
