I am very pleased to have been awarded a little prize by Hila. It’s a "I love your blog" prize and the rules of said prize are to do an entry with the prize, answer the following questions, and then give the prize to 10 blogs.
I am always a little shy about answering questions, mainly because I fear I won’t be as entertaining as this, but here goes nevertheless.
1. Why did you create the blog?
To be honest, I was convinced by a dear soul that it would be a good idea; that it would be a nest to place my work as I made it, fresh and free from expectation. It was a grand idea and five years later has lived up to its promise.
2. What kind of blogs do you follow?
I like to follow those blogs of creative folk. Those folk that make things, write things, see things in creative ways.
3. Favourite makeup brand?
Anything from Mecca Cosmetica is lovely, I think. Namely because it is the sort of store one feels welcome in and when this happens I buy a little more than I had intended.
4. Favourite clothing brand?
A tough one for me. Perhaps if I tell you a little of what I wore today you can decide for me. A grey Gorman three-quarter-length tee underneath a Karen Walker striped tee with buttons on the shoulder. On my legs, a pair of dark blue denims, and on my feet my stripy espadrilles. An outfit to head to the Post Office with orders, swing by a bookstore (in role as Christmas elf) and all else in between.
5. Your indispensable makeup product?
As per G’s list of essentials, mine is similar.
6. Your favourite colour?
This question always makes me feel terribly indecisive, as though I do not know my own mind. I mean how can you decide when there are so many delightful hues. Think of the brilliant blue of the aptly named Blue Bird of Paradise, the pale blue meets violet of the Eurasian Nuthatch, the yellow of the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, the rich scarlet of the Scarlet Ibis, and the perfect black so dense it can absorb light from the forest floor around it of the Superb Bird of Paradise.
7. Your perfume?
All this year I have been wearing Fleurs d’Oranger, a Serge Lutens delight. I received a bottle of it from my parents for my Birthday in February.
8. Your favorite film?
This one I put squarely in the too hard basket. Let’s just say, I like all sorts of film. Like Hila, Bright Star features, and like G, Welcome too. A look back at the films I saw at this year’s film fest will shed further light.
9. What country would you like to visit and why?
I would love to visit Paris again very soon, so let’s say France. I’d also love to see more of Europe, and I have always wanted to visit Russia. Though I suspect it is the Russia of a Tolstoy’s novel that I want to visit rather than the present day.
10. Make the last question and answer to yourself: if you could read one book in a single sitting, what would it be?
Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.
I choose now to pass on this award to Lisa, Maria, Ritva, Esti, Amy, Thereza, ungt blod, Eddy & Edwina, Mecozy and Heather Smith Jones. Please play along if it sounds fun. As 2011 seems very close it may be something for you to try in the brand New Year.
