One last peek

Here is a second square to end my little preview of Gracia and my new work. Very, very soon I will be able to show you photos of the actual prints. I am full of anticipation and nerves at this point, hoping with all my fingers crossed that the final stages of printing were a success. I spoke to our printer today and he was very happy, and though I trust him completely at the same time can’t wait to see them with my own eyes.
 
One part of making prints I do not relish is the signing. I always fear I will spell something wrong, forget to write in my name, miss an edition number or something of that ilk. For this reason, and many others too, I feel I am very lucky to collaborate with Gracia as she loves this job and does it very well.

Peeking at a triangle

I’ve spent much of this week printing, or more accurately, gumming plates and passing paper to my printer, Bernie, who’s 84 and an absolute craftsman. There have been problems with the offset plates for our prints, which has been making printing very difficult if not impossible. However, after much problem solving in the plate room, all is resolved and I have my fingers crossed that Gracia and my forthcoming work will now print beautifully.
 
This past week I have also been working on a book that Gracia and I are making in collaboration with the Australian Poetry Centre for Father’s Day. I am very excited about this collaboration and all that is ahead with this project.
 
I shall leave you now with a peek of one of the pieces sitting in Bernie’s workshop, ready to roll on the press Monday morning.

My eyes are becoming square

I am all awhirl with balancing projects aplenty this week. It is all very exciting, with trips to printers, hour upon hour spent on the computer,  and ideas seeming to appear from nowhere. My eyes are becoming square and dark, but I am happy. It has left me with little time to draw so today instead of a drawing I will post a photo from the wonderful and soon to be no longer Greville Street Bookstore. Good luck J.

A square and a plus symbol

What does a green character from the Ballet Russes, a set from a play The Truth About Russian Dancers, and the characters from an Aesop fable (illustrated by Arthur Rackham) have in common? Why, they all feature in a new collaborative piece by Gracia and me.

We are working on a new artists' book that will be exhibited in an exhibition all about childhood (hence the shapes) this coming August.

Here is another detail. A dachshund features. And Tom Thumb too. Can you spot them?

In Gracia's recent post, In cahoots, you will see two other symbols, the triangle and the circle. We are both keen to show you more of this book. It will be roughly 2 metres in length when extended.

Sometime ago now, I responded to Blanket Magazine's invitation to make a piece based on my star sign, and this exciting secret project can now be revealed in full. I feature in the current issue, The Cosmos Issue (Issue 22), as part of their artist project Astrology Psychology. I am an Aquarius. I am a water carrier.
