Dear Jurate and fellow film comrades,
You asked for my top five films from this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival and here they are, in no particular order a list of my favourite films. Well, actually, they are in order of colour.
Villa Amalia
Katalin Varga
The Man Who Came With the Snow
Snow
Paper Soldier
And Boris Ryzhy and Double Take are two very honourable mentions.
I enjoyed the complexity of these films and they left the greatest mark on me.
See you at Russian Ressurection 2009.
(I have so enjoyed seeing the various film stills selected by G and posted on her blog throughout the festival that I have decided to do the same with this post. It will serve as a good aid to the memory when the festival rolls in to town next winter. One image from a film and I can remember what I liked about it. I hope you enjoy these film stills.)
