They whispered the secrets of the world to me.
This is a recent collaborative work of Gracia and mine. We have created it especially for Amy (tummy-ache and one day) and her brand new Baker’s Dozen. You can purchase it here.
You may recall having seen the lady in question before. Here perhaps.
This time around she sports a few additional feathered friends and a hand-drawn pencil and watercoloured string of lights. The birds in question, seen here about to be glued in place, are all Firetails. The ones facing right are Painted Firetails (Emblema pictum) and the ones facing left Diamond Firetails (Emblema guttatum). They are both Australian.
The Painted Firetail has a voice with a loud harsh "trut" whereas the Diamond has a two-syllable plaintive whistle which descends then ascends.
