My Dad’s little dog, Wilbur, had been awfully ill of late and yesterday when the vet performed a biopsy on him, he found his small canine body to be riddled with tumors too vast and too large. He had been in so much pain of late, with his colon pushed out of shape due to a massive tumor above his abdomen, and many smaller ones that had spread throughout his chest. The x-rays and blood tests told us to expect the worst, and we prepared ourselves as best we could in the face of such things.
Yesterday early in the afternoon the caring vet decided it was the only kind and possible thing to do and Wilbur was put to sleep. I miss him terribly, as do my parents. He has left such a hole in our family world. He was only eight years of age.
Now he is somewhere new, chasing rabbits over fences.
