A mango and a kiwi which I plan on eating very soon with the aid of this trusty fruit knife... and a slice of lemon for Three in the Kitchen.
It’s almost Christmas, well it feels like Christmas is well on its way at least. I know it’s a little early but I can’t help it, I’m feeling very festive this year. I don’t know why exactly. It may have something to do with my decision to do all my Christmas shopping early and on our friends etsy and web shops. Maybe the thought of not having to brave the Christmas crowds in the city on Christmas eve is what I’m excited about? That and seeing all the wonderful things you all make.
Something that might make it’s way into the Christmas stockings of dear friends are two brand new zines by Gracia and Shari and me.
Firstly, a little ripper by Gracia entitled “What Do You Think?”. It’s 20 pages of laugh out loud, thought provoking text with accompanying visual joy. It’s A6 in size so fits snugly into any Christmas hamper and it’s cover is black text photocopied on bright turquoise card, so it would be equally as gorgeous hanging from your Christmas tree.
Secondly, Shari, Gracia and my much anticipated collaborative zine has just had it’s final stitch and comes complete with two slices of lemon. It's jam-packed to the rafters with recipes, drawings, collages, lists and Shari's beautiful photographs. I think it's come up a treat. The only problem with it is that Shari couldn't be here in Melbourne as it was being made. It would have been so much fun if we all could have shared a beer or cup of tea whilst folding the pages. Oh well, there's always next time. Shari is one of those people I felt an immediate connection with. One of those people you say after chatting to for a few minutes... we could be great friends. So, it's been a joy to make a zine with you, Shari.
Both zines will be available in both our web shops tomorrow afternoon/evening. I’ll pop an "ahoy there" post up tomorrow to give you the heads up as soon as they are available.
Oh, and before I forget Gracia and I have also just completed two more greeting cards. They are Christmas meets New Year friendly and oh, so festive. At the moment they are at our printers so we wont have them in our hot little hands (and stores) for at least a week. I’ll keep you posted.
Before I go, thank-you, Mav, for your lovely words and photo this morning. It made me start my day (and Gracia's, too) with the biggest of smiles. Such lovely words.
Medium: felt tip pen scribbles on paper.

All finished! Who'd have thought it possible?
Ah, yes, this certainly calls for a celebratory mango and kiwi fruit feast. You get the knife and I'll get the yellow napkins and I'll see you soon.

The zines look fantastic, I love the addition of the slices of lemon. How wonderful to see both of you collaborating with shari in this way...I am sure 'one day' will come soon. Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful things you have in the pipeline. Oh, and I hope to do all my Christmas shopping on Etsy too.

I can't tell you how excited I am about the new zines! The new cards sound great. Will there be polar bears?

Ohhhhh, I can't wait to get my hot little hands onto one of these 3 in the kitchen zines...... and I'm seriously thinking now about quickly obtaining a credit card of my own, and stop using my mums..... I've been paroozing websites for possible christmas purchases also! They're so much nicer when they're handmade. Good luck with your xmas shopping, sounds very positive.
