First time ever I saw you (Antarctica)
*** 04.08.07 Try this on for size... our collaborative image is now in place for all those who couldn't see it in this post. I'd mistakenly left it as a four colour image - oops! ***
It’s all about the visuals today! Between frequent trips to the film festival (which so far has been totally fantastic), scribbler orders (still), various teaching commitments and several impending deadlines (design jobs and the like) I’m feeling strapped for time.
But before I saturate this post with some of my recent drawings of sea urchins, anemones, kelp roots and various pods found under the sea, I’d like to show you an image Gracia and I have been working on entitled First time ever I saw you (Antarctica). It is based upon one of the earliest photos ever taken of the Antarctic icebergs. At this stage the image is only small and in its digital infancy however if our application to exhibit this piece is successful then it will be reproduced as a poster on a much larger scale.
There is also a companion image, which I think Gracia will reveal on her blog over the next few days.
Oh, and while you’re over on Gracia’s blog you can read her eloquent description of how much she’s been missing her blog time and visiting her blog buddies of late. When I read it I thought… that’s exactly how I’m feeling, I wish I could say it like that! So I’ll leave you with… ditto what she said.
Medium: Watercolour, pencil and collage on Fabriano traditional white 640gsm paper.

those are so gorgeous, saturate away my dear! there could never be enough
